turbo e-bike

UK government says no to turbo e-bike

No speed please, we're British
The government today confirmed that an electrically powered bicycle, may not be sold in this country because its top speed exceeds legal limits.
The Turbo e-cycle's US-based creator, Specialized, was all set to peddle its first battery-equipped bike in coming months across the EU. But with a top assisted speed of 28mph, it will not be permitted in the UK, it has emerged.
Specialized Turbo
The Department of Transport today confirmed to Reg Hardware that "electric motors must not be able to propel [an electrically-assisted bicycle] when it is travelling at more than 15mph".
The Specialized Turbo packs a 250W rear hub motor, an integrated 342Wh Li-ion battery and carbon fibre disc brakes with a regenerative charging feature. The battery is said to last for an hour at top speed, although it will charge in roughly two hours.
A unit on the handlebar provides power level and battery status as well as speed, time and distance figures. There is also the ability to tweak the bike's integrated LED lights.
Specialized Turbo
It all sounds very snazzy, but for €5499 (£4593), you'd expect it to. The bike will go on sale across Europe in limited numbers this May, followed by further shipments expected in the autumn.
It will only be permitted for sale in countries that have introduced 'superbike' classes of e-bike, such as Germany, which upped the limit from 15mph to 28mph, but insists such vehicles stick to the road only.
The DoT said manufacturers are able to integrate limiters to keep assisted speeds down to the legal requirement. However, it appears Specialized has no current plans for this, so those desperate to own a Turbo will have to travel to the continent to do so. ®

5 things you need to do if you get your phone wet: Infographic

I’ve owned five phones since I turned of age and my mum bought me my very first mobile phone (the classic 3210). Even though I consider myself a safe pair of hands when it comes to owning a mobile phone, each of my five phones have come to premature and unfortunate ends.
Two were adopted by strangers, also known as stolen. One jumped from a building, though my friends will tell you I dropped it out of the window whilst trying to take a photo, one decided to play hide and seek and, to my knowledge, is still playing (either that or I lost it in my bedroom) and the other was desperate to take up swimming, so much so in fact, it found its way into my swim short pocket before I got into the pool. Oops.
I’m sure you’ll agree, none of the above were my fault and there wasn’t much I could do to rescue my phones. That is, all but the swimmer.  Had I known what I’m about to share with you, there may have been hope for the little fellow.
If you accidentally find your phone gets wet (and there are numerous examples of how this can happen, too many to name in fact) then all you need to do is follow our 5 ludicrously easy steps. It’ll be like your phone has its own water wings. Genius!
We’d love to know if any of you have had the age old problem of getting your phone wet and any stories you’d like to share! Just pop us a tweet @Nokia_Connects or drop us a message in the comments below.

Using Windows Phone 7 services not available in Portugal

Attached File  zune1.JPG   10,31K   7 downloads

5º Passo - Configurar a conta no equipamento.

Podemos configurar a conta indo a "Settings - email and accounts - add account - Windows Live"

Esta conta irá ficar associada a uma série de serviços tais como:

- Xbox Live

- Zune e Zune Marketplace

- Marketplace

- Feeds e fotos do Windows Live

- Sincronzação de documentos OneNote

- Serviço Find My Phone

Cumprimentos:

Colorado Woman’s iPhone 4 Combusts

A 51-year-old Colorado woman told Mashable her iPhone 4 burst into smoke just inches from her head last week — and she has the photos to prove it.
The woman — who spoke on the condition that her name not be used — says she was traveling on the East Coast and sleeping alone in a hotel room with the phone plugged in to an Apple charger on the nightstand “12 to 14 inches from my head.”
About 6:30am, she awoke to to a strange smell and “sizzling” and “popping” noises. Then came “not quite an explosion, but an immense crackling,” as the room filled with smoke.
“It was an awful, putrid smell, almost like you were ingesting plastic of some kind,” she said in a phone interview.
She jumped from bed and used her laptop case to pick up the phone and throw it in the hotel room sink. The hotel smoke alarms failed to work, she said. An electrician found nothing wrong with the room’s power outlet.
She said she bought the white iPhone 4 about a year ago at an Apple store in Colorado.
The woman said she came to Mashable because of Apple’s unwillingness to publicly acknowledge the incident to other iPhone owners.
“It’s so important for me to have people know about this,” she said. “They’re giving me the classic corporate runaround, and I understand and respect that. But people knowing about this is the most important thing to me.”
This appears to be the first case of a self-combusting iPhone 4 in the United States. But in late 2011 similar incidents were reported in Australia and Brazil.
Both of those incidents involved an iPhone 4. The iPhone 4S does not appear to be affected by the combustion issue. When the woman requested a 4S upgrade for her defunct phone, she was given another iPhone 4.
Mashable has contacted Apple; we have not received any official comment from the company.
“I would have liked to have seen them say they understand this might not be something that affects everyone,” the woman said. “But, because it happened here, [they should] put up a precautionary statement to make people aware that if their battery becomes too hot to be wary.”
Had the combustion happened half an hour later, she said, she would have been in the shower with the sizzling, smoking phone blocking her path from the bathroom to the front door. Had it happened the night before, the phone would have been charging in another room in her mother’s old house.
“Maybe I’m naive,” she added, “but I really hate when companies have to wait for fatalities or something awful to happen before they do something.”

WP7 - DS Marketplace 2.1.1

DS Marketplace 2.1.1 : Deepshining Homebrew Marketplace now available for all users

by Saijo George on March 7, 2012
DS Marketplace
DS Marketplace

We have told you guys about Deepshining ROM‘s own Homebrew marketplace called DS Marketplace, unlike Bazaar the app was exclusive to windows phones with the Deepshining ROM but now dotcompt has released the app for all fully unlocked Windows Phone devices.

DS Marketplace is a FREE app for Windows Phone, Get the XAP from here via xda-dev

DS Marketplace Screenshot

Access OEM Marketplaces easily, no interop!

[XAP] Access OEM Marketplaces easily, no interop! (Update 27 Dec)

Hi hackers!

Found something pretty cool while I was digging around looking for new interop-unlock hacks. The bad news is that it looks like it's not usable for interop unlock, the good news is that it's still pretty cool.

This requires a dev-unlock (ChevronWP7 Labs is fine). It does not require interop-unlock. It works on all phones (as far as I know).

UPDATE 2: Dell Apps.xap, Nokia Apps.xap (v2)
The Dell apps collection is hidden, like the Nokia one was (see Update 1 below). The only app I was able to find was "Newsroom" (another app kind of like HTC Hub). If there are others, please let me know and I'll try to find them.

Nokia has collected their apps into a single marketplace section, like HTC/Samsung/LG. The new Nokia Apps.xap reflects this, so disregard the Update 1 note below for Nokia, and download the new XAP!

UPDATE 1: Nokia Apps.xap (See the Update 2 note - Nokia Apps.xap has been changed)
Be aware that this app works a little differently. Rather than actually adding a "Nokia" store to your Marketplace list, it just enables your phone to access Nokia's apps though the normal marketplace. Not sure why some OEMs did their own store and others didn't, but that's why it wasn't working before (it isn't a stand-alone store section).

An easy way to find the Nokia apps is to do a seach for a well-known app, like Nokia Maps. Then, open it and tap the "More from Nokia Corporation" link. This will take you to a list of all of Nokia's apps.

WHAT IS IT?
Install a XAP, and restart your phone. Then, open the marketplace, and you'll discover that, instead of "HTC Apps" or "Samsung Zone" or whatever your default is, you can install OEM apps from a different OEM.

WHAT CAN I DO?
If you want to install Nokia, HTC, Samsung, LG, or Dell apps, install the relevant XAP. You'll need to restart your phone before the Marketplace changes.
If you want to help out, give me as much info as you can about the other OEM marketplaces (Toshiba/Fujitsu, perhaps?)

IS IT DANGEROUS?
Well, it's a hack. There's always *some* danger. However, you don't need to worry very much. The phone will automatically revert the Marketplace after a day or so. You can also get your proper marketplace back by installing the corresponding app.

However, you *really* should keep an up-to-date restore point any time you're messing with stuff like that, especially with new hacks. If something screws up and doesn't straighten out, restore a backup or hard-reset and it will fix itself.

WHO CAN I THANK?
Well, aside from myself thanks go to:
Heathcliff74, for the XAP deployer hack and the Samsung marketplace configuration file.
Schaps, for TouchXplorer (let me find the relevant file).
Voluptuary, for info about both OEM and MO marketplaces (working on those).
wpxbox, for the info about "Nokia collection".

CAN I ASK A QUESTION?
You just did, or at least, I did for you. Please see the next post after this one for FAQ. Otherwise, feel free to post a reply with your question. Please, if it's at all relevant, include the make, model, and version of your phone and OS/firmware.

How To Get 23GB Of Free Space On Dropbox Using A Custom APK [Android Only]

Dropbox is everyone’s favorite cloud storage, backup and syncing service, and for good reason: it is fast and secure, supported on a wide variety of platforms, free space is given away on a regularly basis and, well, it just works.
The company recently released a “Camera Uploads” feature that allowed users to sync the photos they take on the go with their smartphone with the desktop and we guided you on how to near-instantly get 5GB of free space. Now, we’ve come across a way to get 23GB of free space in your Dropbox. Yes, 23GB!
We are not sure of the legitimacy of this method, as a few enthusiasts have stated that this may be in violation of user terms & conditions. If Dropbox finds you in violation of the terms & conditions you accepted upon signing up for the service, they may terminate your account. Proceed with caution and at your own risk.

DISCLAIMER: This guide is for testing and educational purposes only. Redmond Pie is not to be held responsible for any loss of data as a result of you following this guide.
Majority of folks who’ve tested the method have found it to be working. The developer, however, has categorically stated that the method may not work for everyone.
Step 1: If you already have Dropbox installed on your Android device, you must Clear data, Force close and finally uninstall it from Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Dropbox.
Step 2: Download and install the Dropbox+23GB APK [Dropbox Link]. Be sure to enable Unknown sources under Settings > Applications or Settings > Security (on ICS) before installing the APK!
Step 3: Launch the app as usual and log in.
Step 4: Wait for the confirmation email.
The confirmation email can take up to 30 minutes to arrive, so please be patient. Once you get it, you may uninstall the XDA version of the Dropbox APK and install a fresh build from Google Play.
If you followed the steps correctly, you will have now a whopping 23GB of extra space in your Dropbox. Sadly, this space will only be with you for two years, after which it will be taken away (after being prompted by Dropbox, I assume), so be sure to mark your calendars after getting the free space!

WP7 - Use each music and each audio format with each size as Ringtone , Alert , Alarm

[HACK]Use each music and each audio format with each size as Ringtone , Alert , Alarm

Hey guys

I finally found : Use .m4a , .wma , .wav and .mp3 formats as Alarm, Alert, Ringtone ((without size and length limitations))
without changing the audio name for example: Alert-01.wma or .....

first copy/paste your favorite(s) music(s) to \windows folder.

ok go [HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/
OEMNotifications <------------<< for Alerts
OEMAlarms <------------------<< for Alarms
OEMRingtones] <--------------<< for ringtones and Alarms

in these 3 folders add "new value" and then :

Value Name: name.mp3 or name.wav or name.wma << name=name of your audio file that pasted in WINDOWS folder.

Value Data: enter a name for your audio that you want be shown.

Value Type: String

then click "ok" to set it and go to Setting>ringtones+sounds and see

I tested with .aac , .amr , .m4a , .ac3 , .aiff , .flac , .mka , .mp2 and .ogg formats but just .m4a worked as SMS Alert.
I try it to add a small .mp4 video as ringtone but did not work.
I think if we can add more formats for Ringtones Category it will be possible to have video as ringtone.

IMPORTANT: If you use a long music as sms alert you would not be able to stop playing it, so you must shutdown your phone.

do not forget THANKS

Windows Phone - Bazar

http://wp-bazaar.com/

Download for Free

Huge repository

Bazaar has all the Homebrew applications you need for your unlocked Windows Phone. Developers are updating their applications and you enjoy automatic updates and easy access to new and featured applications.

One-click install

Did it ever happen to you, that you wanted to show a friend an application that you don't have right now? And even worse, it's not in the Marketplace! With Bazaar you can browse for that application and install it immediately with a single "install" click.

Managing applications

Bazaar will manage your downloads and remember your installed applications. This way, you can install new ROM's or even buy a new Windows Phone and get all your beloved applications back in two minutes.

Releases

In our latest release, we support all kind of unlocked Windows Phone devices:
  • Developer unlocked devices – Can use Bazaar for Windows Phone application for viewing and managing favorite applications (and not install them directly from within the application as the device requires additional unlocking). In addition, we’ve created Bazaar for PC - an Windows PC application that let you manage your account and install application to your device using USB cable.
  • Fully unlocked devices - Custom ROMs - like DFT’s freedom Rom (for HTC and Samsung devices), DeepShining ROM, Nextgen+, intrinsicROM, etc.. – Can install the full featured new release of Bazaar that let you browse, share, manage favorites, install applications directly from your device and more.
In addition, you can find Bazaar integrated in some of those ROMs! (DFT’s Samsung ROM, intrinsicROM, more to come..)
Important note – There is no longer need for a ROM with install via IE9 capability. You can use any fully unlock ROM!

Windows Phone 7 - Bluetooth File Transfer

/DFT BT File Transfer\
Application to transfer files via Bluetooth on WP7 phones

Version 1.01

Overview

Application allows to receive files via Bluetooth or send files via Bluetooth.
Also application include feature to auto install received REG RGU and XAP files.
So you can send XAP file from PC to your phone and it will be installed at the end.
Same with REG/RGU - you can send a file and it will be applied to registry. Note file must be in UNICODE format. ANSI files don't supported by application.

Application has some unresolved issues:
  • If send operation was canceled, other side device will save the already received part of file instead of show "canceled" message.
  • Sometimes it's impossible to receive files without opening Bluetooth settings.
Seems Bluetooth go to some low power mode while state is still ON and CONNECTIBLE.
  • To send from one WP7 device to another WP7 device you may need keep the destination phone in Bluetooth settings page. Otherwise the first phone can't see the second.
  • Already paired devices list isn't implemented.

Was tested on phones:

*Samsung Focus R1.3
*HTC Gold
*HTC Spark
*HTC Schubert
*HTC LEO

Requirements

You need FullUnlock to use this application.
Application will NOT work with Developer or Iterop unlocks.

Should work on all WP7 devices.

Installation

1. Install XAP via any way (via IE or via PC deplorer)
2. Run installed application.
3. Wait until message box appear.
"Fail" can mean that your phone is not FullUnlocked or other issue during installation.
